Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 !
…and, in hopes of making your holidays just a bit happier, this morning we are pleased to announce the release of an untethered jailbreak for iOS version 5.0.1, for all supported A4 (& lower) devices! This jailbreak is brought to you courtesy of pod2g’s ninja-like magic + userland exploits, which he first publicly described in this blog post and then turned over to both the Chronic Dev & iPhone Dev teams for further testing + integration into our existing jailbreak tools.
You can quickly access, download & install Corona 5.0.1 Untether (Chronic Dev team’s version, packaged in the Cydia store) for your iPhone 4, iPhone 4 (CDMA), iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPod Touch 4G & iPod Touch 3G *CURRENTLY RUNNING iOS 5.0.1* by following the steps below:
- Open the Cydia app on your tethered jailbroken device**
- Search for “Corona”
- Hit the “Install” button (as shown in the screen grab below)
This package will allow your 5.0.1 device to install pod2g’s untethered exploits and reboot without requiring an external tool like redsn0w or sn0wbreeze, and without having to restore your device (so you get to keep all your apps, contacts, etc).
**Note: if you do not currently have access to the Cydia store on your 5.0.1 device, you can use the redsn0w 0.9.10 tool developed by the iPhone Dev team. It is exactly the same set of files as our Cydia package, but bundled with redsn0w for new jailbreak users and/or those who are not already running a tethered jailbreak.
If you have one of the A4 devices listed above and are not using iOS 5.0.1 yet, you can update your iOS version now (though you should not update to 5.0.2 when it is released, or you will lose your jailbreak) or you can wait a few days max for our Corona 5.0 Untether package, which will be available in the Cydia store upon release.
Apologies to those of you iPad 2 & iPhone 4S users who are waiting for an A5 jailbreak; we all (pod2g + everyone here at Chronic Dev) are still working feverishly ‘round the clock to get an untethered jailbreak into your hands as well, just as soon as we possibly can.

when we read it and it still does not operate, what then? i see all these coments on the fact the itouch 4gen 5.0.1 just wont jailbreak.i have the same problem, and none of these coments are a solution. help? or continue to ignore.

find me where it says ipod touch 4g is supported, maybe it is so small that the shadow from “Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone 4S & iPad 2 !” blocked it from view, i dont know?.

Difference of A5 and A4
With no JB on my phone, I am able to watch iPhone 3GS videos on my car’s head unit. As soon as I install a JB (and I have tried many over the last few IOS4 versions), I lose the video out and can only hear the audio on my car head unit.
My iPhone 3GS is connected to my Kenwood head unit via the official Kenwood/Apple iDevice cable.
Is there a reason for this? Does the IOS5.x jailbreak still kill off the video from the iPhone when connected via the official video/audio cable?

Sorry i know nothing about this, will using this allow me to “unlock” my phone so i can use it with other providers? Or does it just allow me to download apps for free? Confused by the jailbreaking and unlocking.. do i need to do one to do the other? (ie. jailbreak to unlock?) any insight largely appreciated i have ios5 firmware 04.11.08, can this be done?

Hi: Thank you for all your hard work, I have being jailbroken with my 4s since the first day, I currently have an issue with Cydia and need to run absinthe in my mac again and when I try to run it, I get e message that I my device has a stash and is already jailbroken. I am not able to restore my iPhone to factory default because I would be updated to 5.01 which to my understanding is not ready to be jailbroken
Would you tell me how can I re run absinthe?

5.0.1 can be jailbroken, i think you are confusing ‘jailbreak’ and ‘unlock’.
‘Jailbreak’ for 5.0.1 is ready but there is no ‘unlock’ for the baseband that comes with 5.0.1 yet.

I had unlocked and jailbreak 2 iphones before , but this one i dunno, i spent last 2 days and non success .
regarding to absinthe i tried all 4 versions all said that phone is not supported
