CapCom announced to bring the classic 8-bit Mega Man games as Mega Man Legacy Collection to the Xbox One, Sony PS4 and PC.

CapCom announced that the classic Mega Man games will be re-released for the Microsoft Xbox One, Son PS4 and PC this summer. The original six Mega Man games will come in 1080p and enhanced with modern bonuses. A Nintendo 3DS version will be following in the winter.

For $14.99 fans of classic games will get six classics, a museum of high-res images and challenges with their own leaderboards and replays.

The team at Digital Eclipse is bringing these 8-bit classics over via their new Eclipse Engine, which rebuilds the original games from their source elements. The result is a sharp, clean picture that proudly displays these iconic sprites in lovely 1080p, and presents the games as they existed in their original forms.

“Movies have the Criterion Collection, but there hasn’t been anything like that for games,” said Frank Cifaldi, Head of Restoration for Digital Eclipse. “We’re living in the golden age of a brand new form of artistic expression, and we’re not doing a very good job of making sure our games will be available five years from now, let alone fifty. The more we can do right now to take video game preservation seriously, the safer our history will be.”

CapCom will stream the Mega Man Legacy from E3 2015 next week, and fans attending the San Diego Comic-Con in July will be able to play it ahead of its release. Via CapCom.

The E3 2015 exhibition will open June 16 in the Los Angeles Convention Center. The first press-conference is though already on Sunday June 14 with Bethesda. Microsoft and Sony will host their press-conferences on Monday June 15. Nintendo presents on Tuesday morning at the E3 2015.

The San Diego Com-Con kicks off on July 9. The complete Program Schedule for Comic-Con 2015 will appear online approximately 2 weeks before the show.
