Apple iPhone 6S to Feature FaceTime Camera LED Flash

iOS 9 code shows the possibility of improved camera lens for the next iPhone along with a FaceTime camera LED Flash

Code within the iOS 9 developer beta hints at some improvements that can be expected from the upcoming iPhone 6S. It appears that the next iPhone will experience some drastic improvements in its front facing camera and might even be coupled with a LED flash.

The front facing camera might also witness the ability to capture Full HD 1080p videos and might share some capabilities of rear facing camera including Panorama and Slo-Mo modes.Hamza Sood, a developer, discovered the “CAMCaptureCapabilities” files in iOS 9 which has file names like “[CAMCaptureCapabilities isFront1080p120Supported],” which naturally refers to the front facing camera of the iPhone.

The current front-facing ‘FaceTime’ camera can capture 1.2 MP photos and has the ability to record videos in HD (720p). The file names do not necessarily depict Apple’s future plans for the front facing camera, but judging by increasing popularity of selfies and a genuine need for improvement of front facing camera to compete with other major smartphone manufacturers, it seems that it is only a matter of time before we see the front facing cameras getting a major upgrade.

Countless rumors have suggested that the rear facing camera with witness a major upgrade with the new iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus, so it might be reasonable to assume improvements in the front facing camera at the same time. Furthermore, Apple’s recent acquisition of a company specializing in dual sensor cameras is a hint of how serious Apple is about the camera of its upcoming iPhone. The dual sensor cameras will presumably offer better image production and capabilities of capturing 3D imagery.

We can expect two new devices from Apple within the mid-September time frame and we couldn’t be more excited.
