Homer and Marge Simpson are Splitting up in the 27th Season of The Simpsons

Homer, who is diagnosed with narcolepsy, falls in love with his pharmacist

One of the longstanding marriages on television is falling apart soon.

Homer and Marge Simpson are finally splitting up in the upcoming season of The Simpsons, the executive producer of the iconic animated series Al Jean told “Variety” on Sunday as the show is heading to its 27th season. In that interview, Al Jean revealed some of the details of the new season.

“In the premier, it’s discovered after all the years Homer has narcolepsy and it’s an incredible strain on the marriage, “Executive producer said in a statement. After the couple legally splits, Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, reportedly named Candace while he was being prescribed to treat his condition. The character is voiced by “Girls” star Lena Dunham and will appear on the premier titled “Every Man’s Dream”. Talking about the selection of Lena Dunham, Jean said in another interview earlier this year. “She is not playing herself or Hannah from “Girls”. But it’s that funny, intellectual, slightly awkward, endearing tone that everybody’s familiar with, so we were just writing it with her voice in our heads.”

Al Jean also hinted that some of the other women from “Girls” are also having cameo appearances on the show. “We have an episode coming where Lisa befriends a homeless woman who turns out to be an incredible singer. The woman’s voiced by Kate McKinnon, but the singing is done by Natalie Maines. In another episode Spider Pig makes it return.”

The new season of The Simpsons appears to be full of shockers. Earlier this week, it has also been revealed that Bart Simpson, the eldest child and the only son of Homer and Marge is going to be killed in the Halloween episode of the upcoming season. “ Sideshow Bob appears in a segment and finally see him do something he’s wanted to do for 25 years. We have an episode based on the film “Boyhood”. It’s a flashback/flash forward about Bart. We go to various points in his life to come which I think came out really well.” Al Jean said.

The 27th season will premiere on September 27th on Fox.
