Everything is going great at Apple with More than 100 billion app downloads from iTunes Store

Apple just announced that everything is going great at Apple during its WWDC 2015 event.

The WWDC is a perfect platform where Apple welcomes the developers who build applications for its phones, tablets, watches and computers. It is also the platform that Apple uses to share its achievements so far with its developers and the world at large. So, this time around, at the annual conference held in San Francisco, Apple CEO Tim Cook wasn’t shy of words or numbers when took the stage to announce recent achievements.

The first achievement to be declared by the Apple CEO was the Apple’s App Store surpassing 100 billion app downloads. He also cited that Apple has paid out more than $30 billion to developers so far. Next was the success that Apple Pay is enjoying. It was noted that 1 million locations now accept Apple Pay. Jennifer Bailey (Vice President of Apple Pay) was keen to share the facts that the number of purchases made with Apple Pay has doubled and the number of merchants accepting Apple’s payment app will surpass 1 million locations next month.

Apple’s plan of expanding Apple Pay to the UK was also shared stating that it will launch with 8 of the most popular bank with more coming this fall. Emphasis was also raised on the fact that more than 70% of Debit and Credit Cards in the UK will be compatible with Apple Pay. Light was also shed on the numbers of Mac OS X users. It was stated that 55 percent of Mac users had adopted Yosemite. Craig Fererighi (Apple Senior Vice President of Software Engineering) quoted that “Yosemite has the fastest adoption rate for any PC operating system ever”.

He emphasized that speed was the main driving force for the software’s popularity and he expects the trend to continue with El Capitan. El Capitan, the new version of OS X is seeing 1.4x acceleration in app launching, 2x improvement in snappiness of switching apps, twice as fast to get new mail messages and 4x as fast to get into preview. Lastly, Apple shed details on its Apple Maps and Siri stating that Apple Maps are getting 5 billion requests per week whereas Siri answers more than 1 billion requests each week.

Apple’s Map is getting an update in iOS 9 which will offer a new feature called Transit, that will provide you with key information on buses, trains, subways and ferries. Siri has also gotten more intelligent over the years and now offers 40% faster responding and a 40% reduction in world-error rate.
